Over the years I have worked on many projects small and large. My development experience includes small PHP scripts that performed simple data mining tasks to full blown Ruby on Rails applications. Explore some of my recent work below.
This project started as a class that I helped lead and design as a part of the Computer Science curriculum at Kalamazoo College in winter 2009. While no where near completion by the end of the class, I completed work on it over the summer and fall of '09. As such, my responsibilities in development stretched over the entire application. It was built using Ruby on Rails, the Google visualization API and shell scripts that pull and post data.
The application draws energy (electricity, water, natural gas) consumption data from the buildings on Kalamazoo College's campus and plots them in real time. It also stores the data for comparison by date and specific buildings. The main purpose of this project was to allow the Kalamazoo College student body and staff an easy way to view and interact with their own energy consumption. The long term goal of this application is to reduce the ecological footprint of Kalamazoo College by raising awareness and promoting responsible energy use through events such as building energy competitions and events similar to Earth Hour.
I worked with Halpert, Weston, Wuori & Sawusch, P.C. to design and develop their current website www.leadersinlaw.com. I designed the site using Adobe Photoshop and developed the design into a functional WordPress theme. I did additional customization and hacking of WordPress to meet the client's requirements.
I worked with PAGEthis to develop and design a custom profile and login page for the Reno Agency website (development). This work involved heavy use of jQuery/CSS and hacking the WordPress CMS.
My responsibilities while working with PAGEthis included Joomla customization. For HighQualityMirrors.com I customized the Joomla theme as well as integrating the VirtueMart shopping cart into the theme.
A personal project in which I designed and coded in PHP. Simple, clean and lightwheight, the movie tracker allows one to add movies, track movies they've watched, delete and take them to the corresponding IMDB page. Utilizes single user authentication and sessions, although it supports multiple users for the same list.
